NEW BRANCHES/FRESH FRUIT

We can if we are stuck in our own ‘gospel’ and living out our self-made ‘contract’ continue our lives as dead wood. We can, if we lack resolve, imagination or a real passion for a deeper life be stuck in what we have. We can, out of a mistaken sense of dedication, focus our resources on propping up the legacy of our parents or the community that we think gives us status and identity.
But we might do this without knowing that we are in fact in stagnant decline and have been for some time. In this state of un-life we may either lose the substance of our faith and become dead men talking or parade as the ‘hollow men’ or just give up and become agnostics or atheists without spirit and without life. Then again, we may realise our abyss and begin Christ our life.
FRAMES OF MEANING
“Most generations have seen boundary marking and protecting those boundaries as their primary and sometimes only task in life. Most of history has been the forging of structures of security and appropriate loyalty symbols, to announce and defend one's personal identity, one's group, and one's gender issues and identity. Now we seem to live in a time when more and more people are asking, “Is that all there is?” (1)
Fortunately, there is more. But if we are to be more than political people who say ‘no’ to anything new and fresh, we need to set ourselves to be ‘falling upward’ into the Light.
